You Always Have the Power to Change

Your life is yours to choose; what’s your choice going to be?

By Arlin Cuncic

Does it feel like life has beaten you down to the point that you have no more options? While it’s easy to feel this way when the chips have not fallen in your favor, keeping yourself down and not seeing your options is actually a choice. In order to make a change to your situation, you need to shift your mindset to a higher level than the one you are currently in.

The best first step to shifting into that higher level of living is to stop what you are doing right now. Albert Einstein famously said that “Problems cannot be solved with the same mindset that created them” and he was right. If you keep doing the same things you’ve always been doing, then you’ll keep getting the same result you’ve always been getting. Slow down, take a breath, and reassess your situation. Don’t just continue down the same path you’ve been on.

Once you’ve committed to shifting your mindset and moving from a low-frequency vibing place to a higher plane, how do you actually do that in practice? One simple method that’s easy to implement is to set intentions upon waking each morning. Do this by writing in a journal. What are the three top things you’d like to achieve today?

But what if you’re so caught up in the day-to-day that you can’t see the big picture? Start by visualizing what it is that you want out of life. What are your big dreams? What would be amazing for you? What’s your definition of success? Then work backward setting some 10-year goals, five-year goals, one-year goals, and eventually 90-day goals. Break those 90-day goals down into monthly goals, then weekly goals, and finally those daily tasks that you couldn’t figure out.

When you approach life with a mindset of determination and drive, coupled with a solid understanding of what you are striving for and a plan to get there, it will be much easier to shift yourself out of the negative spiral you’ve sunken into. After all, if every day for you is worse than the last, what do you have to lose? If you fail to meet your big scary goals, won’t you still be farther ahead than if you didn’t try?

In the end, you won’t know until you truly make an effort. Yes, it’s easier to stay where you are. Maybe it’s easier to keep complaining. It’s certainly easier not to do the hard work that needs to be done to achieve what you really want out of life. But do you really want to not find out if you could have done it all? Don’t sell yourself short. If your mantra is “I hate my life,” you’ve just been playing small. We all know you can do it, it’s just a matter of planning, patience, and productivity. Here’s your wake-up-call: nobody’s doing this for you. You’ve got this. Go for it. Go all in so you never have to worry that you didn’t give it your all.
